Friday Favourites: Fragrance, Day and Night

1. Chloé Eau de Parfum. My daytime, everyday, all the time favourite fragrance. There are aspects of the scent that are part of a visceral scent memory of a trip to Belize. It smells like clean laundry, spring and sunshine to me. According to Fragrantica its top notes are Peony, Freesia and Lychee. Middle notes are Rose, Lily of the Valley and Magnolia. Virgin Cedar and Amber make up the base notes. What a pretty bouquet that would make.

2. Belle d'Opium by Yves Saint Laurent. For evenings and date nights, this is my husband's favourite fragrance. It's an intense scent, sweet, smoky and sensual. It's a fall and winter scent for me, it reminds me of dimmed lights, flushed cheeks from cold, lace and elegance. Where Chloe is bright and clean, Belle d'Opium is dark and complex. Belle d'Opium's top notes Mandarin Orange, Gardenia, Jasmine, and Casablanca Lily meet its middle notes of Incense, Peach, Tobacco, Fruit and White Pepper with an undercurrent of Sandalwood, Patchouli and Amber base notes. It's an extremely complicated and nuanced blend.

Thursday Throw-back: dELiA*s

Ran across Buzzfeed's article on dELiA*s catalogue and was hit with some serious teenage nostalgia. I remember poring over the online Delia's catalogue in my eighth grade computer class, high-jacking the images and pasting them into my web -1.0 homework. Further nostaliga fueled googling led me to Mmaquino's awesome scans of the entire summer of 1999 catalogue.

Went to an event on Friday and was in need of a clutch to stash my phone, cash and id. My husband reminded me that I had the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M single glove bag stashed away at the back of my closet. I am usually not the type to hoard things. I'm much more likely to use something as soon as I get it home than save it for a later date. In this case I had wandered into H&M accidentally on the day the MMM collection launched and ended up buying more than I anticipated or, to be honest, had need of. Reminder to self: Wear these things!

Friday Favourites: Make-up!

A perfect natural pink in a silky balm formula.

A beautiful blue-toned red. Gives a long lasting full on red lip or works as a lip and  cheek stain with a light hand.

So sparkly, so cheap.
